Original Site

Ormside Education Centre is run by Knowsley Enterprise Academy and since its grand reopening in July 2017 has provided over 1,000 free educational breaks for schools and groups across the United Kingdom.

The existing facility could accomodate 32 people, following project with Knowsley Enterprise Academy, Phase 8 Development Company developed a new build extension to increase capacity. The initial stages of the project began in early 2020 with Phas8 Development Company's in-house Architectural Designer with construction set to begin in August of 2020, delays were caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and construction began during November 2021.

The new extension will help make the running of the centre easier and better for Knowsley Enterprise Academy. A new drying area, larger kitchen, more dorm rooms and disabled suite will be added, with all areas being made accessible to all. The new considerate design is a timber frame structure which is clad in locally sourced sandstone, the same as the existing centre. The roof of the extension has used reconstituted slate tiles, which are made up of 60% recycled slate.

The new build extension was completed and opened for formal use in May 2024.
